Be careful, because a lot depends on the category you choose for your reported place. You’re primarily looking for categories based on keywords, so this will require some patience and good associations. Apple Maps is one of the most precise and open to user collaboration. One such feature is the ability to report missing places, as well as incorrect addresses and even new and missing buildings. Today we’ll show you how to add a place to Apple Maps. We’ve put it to the test, and a video will be coming soon. For now, here are the written instructions and a few screenshots. First, consider what you want to add: an address, a company, a location, or something else. You’ll need to define a category, such as “education center,” “company headquarters,” “swimming pool,” “restaurant,” “parking lot,” “station,” etc.
How to add a missing place to Apple Maps? – INSTRUCTIONS
1. Start by opening the Maps app on your device.
2. Locate the exact place you want to add on the map.
3. Then, hold your finger on the screen to drop a pin.
4. When the pin appears on the map, click “More.”
5. Select “Report a missing place” from the list at the end.
6. Fill in the information, including the category, name, address, and other optional information, depending on the category you choose.
7. Click “SEND.”
Finally, you can decide whether to add another place, then repeat steps 4, or complete the process by clicking “DONE” in the upper right corner.

Requirements for successfully adding a place
You will not be notified if your place request was unsuccessful. Here are some reasons why your place request may not be valid:
- Precise location – make sure the pin is exactly in the right place on the map.
- Completeness of data – provide full address, venue name, opening hours and other relevant information.
- Real data – information must be factual and verifiable.
- Category Compliance – The reported place must match the categories available in Apple Maps (e.g. restaurant, shop, museum).
What if place is not added?
We’ll provide you with the necessary details to ensure your submission is considered. Please remember not to attempt to submit fictitious locations.
- Incorrect location – if the pin is placed in the wrong place.
- Insufficient information – missing key details such as full address, venue name or opening hours.
- The place already exists – if Apple Maps already contains data for this place, even though it wasn’t visible on the map. In this case, it’s worth double-checking the data and trying to report the place again, making sure all the information is correct and complete.
Confirmation and waiting for verification
After submitting your application, Apple will begin verifying your information. Confirmation may take several days. When your application is approved, you will typically receive
a notification on your device or, less frequently,
an email informing you that the location has been added to Apple Maps. However, the first sign that your application has been successfully submitted is an on-screen message thanking you for your submission.
